2015 Beauty Favourites

Oh man! I can't believe it's been a year.

For (almost) whole year I've been blogging now and I can finally do a yearly favourites post. This was actually harder than I anticipated, because I get excited over new stuff very fast, forget about old stuff I used to like and sure, it's so weird to see all the stuff I've accumulated over just a year...

So the way I went over this is I tried to pick one of each category and I think in the end I did rather well. Let's dive into it, shall we?

1. Foundation

This was a rather easy choice to make for me and it's hands down my l'Oréal Infallible 24H Matte foundation. The colour match has been great for me most of the times, the finish is perfect for my oily combination skin, it feels very lightweight yet it has tons of coverage and it's easy to work with in terms of dosing how much you have to use because it comes in a tube and it's not too liquid. It's the first foundation I actually used up in a very long time. I have a lot of others to try and use up before I repurchase this one, but I definitely will!

2. Concealer

After hearing so much about the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer I figured I definitely needed to try it myself, it sounded like the perfect product for me: lightweight yet a lot of coverage, stays on for a decent amount of time and lasts you for ever. I'm not a big fan of the colour selection though; it matches great with my l'Oréal foundation I just mentioned but the shade I have - Light Neutral - it's just a little too dark for me at the moment, while I feel like the lighter shade would be too light. Both shades are also ALWAYS out of stock so it's not an easy job to re-stock on this one. However I love the formula a lot and I'm eager to buy both light shades in the future.

3. Powder

I know I've been using a lot of the Rimmel Stay Matte powder and that's still one of the best I've used, but I felt like all I ever used was that one. It's really an oldie and a goodie for me and will stay like that for the future, but after repurchasing that one for the fifth time, I decided to go out on a limb and buy a different one. I'm so glad I did because now I'm so in love with my Bourjois Healthy Balance powder! It does a great job at setting down the make up without making it too matte and cakey looking. I think this one is especially great for setting concealer underneath the eyes.

4. Bronzer

No need to explain the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Multi-Color in Marinière N°02 has been my absolute favourite this year! I bought a back up after I tried and tested it for a week, just to make sure I'd still have it if I use it up because it was limited edition, that's how addicted I was to this stuff immediately! I'll shut up about this one now, but just always remember, if you ever wonder, YES I will still probably be using this one all the time.

5. Blush

This year was probably the year of the blush for me. I started this year with only a few of them, now there's an entire collection to talk about. I think one of the most amazing discoveries this year has been the Hourglass Ambient Lighting blush in Luminous Flush. It looks so natural and glowy on the skin and the shade is just amazing, right in between pink and peach. This is great for an everyday highlight as well, you won't need to highlight op top of your blush. It also gets points for the way it looks: not so much the packaging per sé, just the marble effect already does it for me.

6. Highlighter

This award just HAS to go the The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer. Oh, the adventures I've been through with this one. From finally picking it up to loving it a lot through dropping it on the floor and not being able to get out of the house without highlighter everywhere, then trying to fix it and being okay with the fact it looks ugly now. It's still an amazing product and although I've not been wearing a lot of highlighter the last few months, whenever I go out and want to wear highlighter, I always lean towards this one.

7. Brow product

I cannot explain how excited I was when I discovered the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products in my own city. I immediately picked up the Brow Wiz and haven't regretted it for a single second. I never used brow pencils before this one but oh, the difference it make in my routine. Definitely the discovery of the year for me.

8. Eyeshadow

As an eyeshadow addict I really wasn't able to pick a favourite between my palettes, so I opted for a single eyeshadow here. The one I've been using most - on and off, but still the most - is the Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze. It's the first one of the range I tried and fell in love with it so much I decided to gradually expand the collection to what it is now.  I wore it in different ways as well: from a quick wash of colour on it's own to a great base for a smoky eye, this really does it all.

9. Mascara

Apart from Maybelline The Falsies being my number one holy grail mascara for a few years now, I've experimented with a lot of others this past year. The biggest discovery must have been the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. This one gives great length if I want it to, but if I concentrate on the roots of my lashes, it just gives great volume and separates very well. It can hold a curl like no other and rarely ever smudges during the day. I can't believe how long the mini-size is lasting me, I haven't even got round to opening the full-size that's in the picture!

10. Eyeliner

I could have probably picked the Mac Technakohl in Earthline because I have been using that one a whole lot this year, but kind of forgot and picked my favourite felt tip liner right away. Must have been the l'Oréal Super Liner Perfect Slim, one I've been using for so long I didn't feel the need to buy another one for a very long time. It's very much like other felt tip liners, but I feel the tip is just the right size and length, it's not too flimsy but not too stiff either, and the staying power of this formula is incredible.

11. Lip product

2015 has been the year of experimenting with lip products, mainly because I felt like my blog was lacking in that department. I'm still not the biggest fan of lipsticks and on a day to day basis I'll just opt for a lip balm, but for going out I've been more adventurous with lip colours, and I must say the one that has done the best job of staying for a very long time is the Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipstick in Melted Nude. I love brown toned nude lip colours and this one is just the perfect one for me. The formula is very light and stays on for such a long time! Definitely my favourite out of all the new lipsticks I've hauled.

A mouth full! What have been your absolute favourites this year? Let me know in the comments, I would love to get some "holy grail" inspiration from you.

Lots of love,
