Cool toned festive look: two ways to rock it

Hey everyone!

So for today's post I did 2 variations on the same look, tweaking it just a little bit for the second look, but overall this look is really easy to recreate and Christmas/Party-proof, depending on how far you want to take it, that is ;-)

Let's see how I created these cool toned makeup looks.

If you want to see what I've used for my base, the whole routine is pretty much the same as in my Autumn Makeup Look post, apart from the highlighter which I will show you in a second. Then also, my brows always have the same products on them and I rarely ever change up that routine, so that's the exact same as in that post.

So after primer, foundation concealer, powder, bronzer, blush and brows, I will start this post with highlighter. I tried my best to show it in the pictures and hope you can see how beautiful it looks. This peachy number is the Too Faced Love Light prismatic highlighter in Ray Of Light. This gorgeous subtle highlighter can be layered to make it more intense, although I must say there are more blinding highlighters out there. Still, I really like the look of this particular one.

To give my lids a little bit of colour, making sure it fits with the colours I had had in mind for my eyeliner and lips, I'm sticking with a purpley mauve shade, the H&M High Impact Eye Colour in Cocoa Mauve. I've applied it in the crease and ran it along the lower lash line as well.

To give it a more cool toned feeling, I'm bringing in the grey shades. On the lower waterline I've applied the The Balm Mr. Write Now in Vince, a gorgeous dark grey matte twist-up pencil. On the upper lash line I'm going for a proper winged eyeliner look, and for this I've used the l'Oréal Super Liner Perfect Slim in Grey. It's super easy to apply and it matches the pencil so well, too!

I just realised I didn't include the mascara in the pictures, but it's the Urban Decay Perversion mascara just on the top lashes.

To give it that bit more of a festive feeling, of course we need glitter! I used the Nyx Liquid Crystal Liner in 106 Crystal Hip and applied it to the inner corners of my eyes. You could apply it to the lid, or drag it on the inner half of the lower lash line, as much glitter as you want because it's the holidays! I kept it on the natural side this time.

Time for the lips, and my colour of choice is a true dark purple combination from Mac, the Lip Pencil in Cyber World and the matching Satin Lipstick in Cyber. I thought this looked so good paired with the eye look, keeping it cool toned and purpley.

If you're not that dark-lip-kind-of-girl, here's a second option to make this cool toned look a bit more festive and winter-proof.

All I did was remove the dark lipstick and take a q-tip with some makeup remover to take off the glitter liner on the inner corners. Then I went in with the Makeup Geek Charmed eyeshadow, a super pigmented metallic silver shade, and with an angled liner brush I applied it over the grey liner I just applied. This brings in the glitter element to the look in a different way. The lipstick of choice is Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk, although now that I look at it, my Topshop lipstick in Naturist would have looked pretty awesome with this eye look as well...
