Rosy eyes & red lips with a twist

Hey everyone!

So I was planning on posting this much closer to Christmas, but this look didn't turn out as xmas- or nye-proof as I had in mind. I still think it's suitable for the festive season, but of course this one suits many occasions, as it looks quite neutral.

Every christmas I sort of do a take on the rosy-eyes-and-red-lips festive look, but I kind of did a twist on it this time round, by choosing colours that are just that bit different to the classic red lipstick and rosy pink eyeshadow.

I'm starting off my look with my base products, first the Maybelline Eraser Eye concealer in Neutralizer underneath my eyes and to hide the odd blemish, then I'm going over top with the BareMinerals BarePro Performance Wear Powder Foundation in Dawn 02. I've been using this one a lot lately and I think it works so well for me in this time of year.

To give my face some shape, I'm using the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow and I'm only using the contour shade, just to define my cheekbones a bit. Then to bronze up my skin a little bit more, I'm applying the MaxFactor Creme Bronzer in 05 Light Gold. Sticking to this range, I'm blushing up my cheeks with the MaxFactor Creme Puff Blush in 10 Nude Mauve. This combination works so well, as it's the same formulation, so they blend together really nicely.

Then finally, to highlight the cheekbones I'm going way back to the OG highlighter (for me, anyways), and it's the The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer. I remember how good of a glow this would give me, so I thought it might be suitable for a (sort of) festive look. This one comes in a set of the three Manizer Sisters powders (which I've seen they added a fourth one to the collection, I can't wait to see that IRL).

To start off the eyes, I did prime with the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin, but since I only have a sample of that (and it doesn't look particularly pretty) I didn't include it in the picture. This one gives me a gorgeous shimmery base to build upon. My rosy eyeshadow of choice today, is actually the Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighter in Ray Of Light, a gorgeous peachy highlighter that's perfect for the lid and inner corner in this look. To define the crease I'm reaching for the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow again, and I also run that contour shade along the lower lash line.

To fill in my brows, I'm sticking to the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil in 2, then setting them down with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel. This has been pretty much my standard brow routine lately. To line the eyes I'm going in with the Estée Lauder Little Black Liner in 01 Onyx (I wonder if they do different shades in this, since they named this one? ...) Then for some lash definition I'm using the Urban Decay Perversion mascara, which to be fair is on its last legs when I'm writing this post.

Finally, on the lips I'm going for a combination that is a bit more bright than I'm used to and leans towards the red-look, but is just that bit more orange/brown-toned so it's not just your standard red lip. I'm using the Smashbox BE Legendary matte lipstick in Off Script, topped of in the centre with the Urban Decay Vice Naked Heat cream lipstick in Fuel.

I think this look can very well pass for classy-chique in the festive season, if you don't like to to go too all-out with your makeup. I will make sure though to upload more party-proof makeup-look when Christmas is nearer.

If you've managed to read until here, thanks! Can you let me know in the comments below what you think of this style of photography I've used for the products-photos? I tried to change it up a bit, as I'm not happy with the way I take pictures anymore and wanted to experiment a little. Do we like the background or not? Any other suggestions? Let me know, I would appreciate it a lot! xo

Lots of love,
