Empties #20

10:00

I had so many empties lying around, I figured it was well time to go through them and give another rundown of everything I've been using up in the past few months.

There's a lot of makeup and skincare in this post, but also some haircare and other bits, so you can just skip to the categorie that you prefer to read if you think this post is TL;DR.

Hope you enjoy the mini-reviews!

MAKEUP

BareMinerals BareSkin concealer

Like it? This concealer is truly one of the best I've ever tried. It's great for underneath the eyes, as it feels really hydrating, but it has amazing coverage as well.

Repurchase? I guess I will at some point, but I'm quite hooked on pot concealers at the moment...

Maybelline Eraser Eye Neutralizer

Like it? I used to be so obsessed with this in the past, and I was so excited to see they came back with new shades. The neutralizer is defintely the best shade for me, although it doesn't have as much coverage as the nude concealer does. It still works well for everyday, even on my blemishes. The only thing is that the sponge tip gets so grubby after a while, but I love the twist up thingie, which means you're getting out every single drop of product.

Repurchase? Same as above, I probably will some day, after my hype with the pot concealers has died down again.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD concealer

Like it? It was an okay concealer with tons of coverage, but I did go for a shade that was a bit too light to use on my blemishes. I felt like the coverage was way too high for underneath the eyes, so I really wish I had picked up a darker shade, but then again I thought it would work better underneath the eyes... I was kind of disappointed with the packaging as well, to be honest, as I always thought the applicator was a roller ball (that's what it looked like in most youtube tutorials back when it released) and for some reason I always sqeeze out way too much product, so the top gets so messy and grubby after a while. I depotted the last bits to make sure I could squeeze out every last bit, and I did use this up for my Project Pan.

Repurchase? I'm afraid not, there's defintely concealers out there that work way better for me.

Rimmel Stay Matte setting powder

Like it? This is my absolute holy grail setting powder and I can't fault it. Apart from the lid that always breaks on me after a while, but hey. Can't complain for a resonably priced product like this one.

Repurchase? Always do, already did. I stock up on the Transparent shade whenever I'm in the UK, because I can't seem to find it in Belgium!

Clinique Almost Powder Makeup

Like it? This powder foundation is so old, it used to sit in a little wash bag I keep in my handbag at all times. This used to come in handy for topping up, but I have decided it is time to go now. It's not completely empty, but I don't think it's right to use this one anymore.

Repurchase? Probably not, I've really found my love for the BareMinerals powder foundation, so when I use that one up, I'll probably repurchase that one instead of the Clinique. I'm not even sure they still make this product? That's how old it is!

Nyx Matte Finish Setting Spray

Like it? It is the only setting spray that works for my skin and I love that it's so affordable! Highly recommend.

Repurchase? I always stock up so that I never run out ;-)

Eyelure x Fleur DeForce Brow Define

Like it? I really liked the formula of this pencil, but instead of the Medium shade I should have gone for the Light one instead. I couldn't really make the darkest shade of the two work for me, but the lighter shade was actually really good. I went through it really fast though, as the formula is buttery soft.

Repurchase? I might go and see if I can get my hands on the lightest shade when I'm in the UK next month. We'll see.

Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil

Like it? I think I'm starting to prefer this one over my ABH Brow Wiz. I did pick this up in one shade too light, as the one I usually get was sold out and I ran out of all my brow pencils, but for really low-key looks I could absolutely make it work.

Repurchase? I might, although I prefer the Goof Proof from the same Benefit collection. Speaking of... read on to see what I have to say about that one.

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil

Like it? This is one of my favourite brow pencils I've ever tried! It's so easy to use and lasts me quite a long time. I use this one the daily and never get tired of it.

Repurchase? Definitely, although I'm still using three other pencils I'm trialing (but not really loving as much as this one) so I need to get through those first.

TheBalm Mr. Write (Now) eyeliner pencil - Vince

Like it? I put this in my Project Pan, only to find out it turned crappy over the years and I really couldn't use this anymore. This product is not finished, but it's so dried out it really thugs on my eyelids when I try to apply some colour. Out this goes!

Repurchase? No, I don't really reach for eye pencils all that much lately. It's a very unique, cool shade though and I've seen that they rebranded the packaging of these. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a matte grey pencil in particular.

Estée Lauder Little Black Liner

Like it? I really enjoyed this eyeliner, especially the felt tip side, and the formula is also great. Too bad I never reached for the paddle-end, which is sort of the whole point of this liner. It's quite expensive but you're paying for two ends, so it's a shame when you only really use one end. I do think the product that dispensed through both ends is one and the same in the middle, so I hope I didn't waste any product by using the felt tip end loads and not really use the paddle tip all that much...

Repurchase? I'm defintely considering it. I'm still trying to empty a l'Oréal liquid liner and I only just opened my Eyeko liner (that I bought well over a year ago!), then I also have a Stila one on backup, so I have a lot of liners to go through before I repurchase this one. But yes, I defintely will one day.

Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara (mini)

Like it? We all know this mascara is loved by many and that counts for me as well. Great volume and separation, loving the formula and apreciate that the wand has actual bristles, not plastic ones.

Repurchase? I've got an unopened full size lying around for ages, but I still have a lot of mascaras to go through before I use that one.

Topshop lipstick - Naturist

Like it? I was so surprised by the formula of this lipstick, and I do think I picked out a shade I had never tried before.

Repurchase? I defo want to check out the collection again, but won't pick the same shade again. I feel like it was just a tiny bit too cool toned for me, and warm shades suit me better!

SKINCARE

Ren Clearcalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser

Like it? I am so obsessed with this cleanser. I can't believe I haven't been using this my entire life! This works wonders for my oily skin, without drying it out too much.

Repurchase? I'm currently using the Kiehl's Rare Earth Dep Pore Daily Cleanser, which is a clay cleanser as well, but I'm not enjoying that one just as much as this one. When I'm almost run out of that one, I'll definitely go back to the Ren one.

Ren Clearcalm 3 Clarity Restoring Mask

Like it? I actually really liked this mask, it is such a great combination with the cleanser. Only thing is: I feel like I've only used it a handful of times and it's now completely finished. It's £32 on FeelUnique and for that money, I want to get more use out of a product.

Repurchase? The search for the perfect mask continues. But I'm getting there, I can feel it.

Ren Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask

Like it? This mask is something else. A friend of mine recommended it to me, and I would have never picked this up if it wasn't for her, but I actually enjoyed it a lot! It sort of strips the top layer of your skin from any dead cells and dirts, but it's so important to stay away from UV after using it. I would usually do this in the evening, before going to bed.

Repurchase? I still have a travel sized one on the go. I will then see how much I actually need it in my life, but I think I can live without it, as I wasn't really using it religiously anyways. I always forget to do masks and then I end up putting them on every two or three weeks. Oops, my bad!

Lush Cupcake fresh face mask

Like it? I absolutely adore this mask, it smells so good and it makes my skin feel baby soft. I just find it annoying for two things: it has to go in the fridge, and I usually put on a face mask when I'm in the shower, and 9/10 times I will forget this mask is still in the fridge downstairs when I'm already in the shower upstairs. Second reason: it expires so fast! I'm not really a mask-person, in the way that I don't do them multiple times a week, just because I always forget. This has a shelf life of approx. 1 month. That is so fast, and I find that I really don't need to use much of this, but I end up using more towards the end because I will never finish it in time otherwise! I feel like I'm wasting so much product for the sake of finishing it up before it expires.

Repurchase? I wish I could repurchase it more often, but I don't have a Lush in my neighbourhood. I have to go shopping in Maastricht, The Netherlands (which is about 45 mins. driving away from where I live) if I want to pick it up again, but it doesn't happen often that I go there. I purchase it when I think about it, but I'd rather find a really good mask that's not a fresh one.

Lush Cup o' Coffee face and body mask

Like it? Again, this is one of the more "fresh" masks, although it lasts at least 3 months and doesn't have to go in the fridge. I like this a lot for waking up in the morning and giving my skin the coffee punch it needs then, but I really like it for my back and chest as well. It needs a scrub once in a while and the coffee bean particles in here have a really good scrubbing effect. I definitely recommend this mask to anyone.

Repurchase? Again, Lush is not in my diret neighbourhood so I will pick it up if I ever go shopping in Maastricht again.

Clinique Pep-Start eye cream (mini)

Like it? Onto the mini Clinique products I've emptied from the Advent Calendar. I was very pleasantly surprised by how long this mini one lasted me, and I really get on well with the product itself! I love myself a light eye cream in the morning, so that makeup layers on it better.

Repurchase? Already picked up the full size a while back and I'm using it every single day!

Clinique Moisture Surge moisturiser (mini)

Like it? I actually really love the consistency of this moisturiser, it feels very gel-like, which is perfect for my oily skin. I never used it every single day, but kept it for days where I would need some extra moisture during the day, sat at home when I wasn't wearing makeup, or if I would take a shower somewhere around mid-day and I already did my skincare in the morning, but needed something extra after the shower and before applying makeup.

Repurchase? I might do some day, but I'm currently using something else and I don't like stocking up on skincare too much ;-)

Clinique Moisture Surge overnight mask (mini)

Like it? I liked the idea of this, but unfortunately it did not work for my oily skin. I found it broke me out ever so slightly, and my skin would feel more oily than usual the day after. I recommend it for dryer skin types, but not for my oily gals!

Repurchase? Nope.

Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum (mini)

Like it? I liked the consistency of this product, but obviously you need to use up a full size to see the effect of this product in the long term. It felt nice, but I didn't really see much difference on the short term.

Repurchase? Actually, the Smart line is really rather expensive, and I do think I can live without this product in my routine, so I'm going to pass.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Like it? If you sort of know me by now, you know this has become a holy grail product for me! I can't recommend this enough to anyone. It cleared up my skin so well and my skin will always look so good in the morning when I've used this.

Repurchase? Definitely, although I'm currently using a Clarins oil in the evening, which will last me a while, still. After that, I'm 100% going back to this one!

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Lip Protectant

Like it? I'm so absolutely smitten with this lip balm, and although I've purchased a full size of this, it's just not the same. The annoying thing is that you can only get these on certain flights and in airports, so I would always buy it on my flight, but I'm nearly running out of my very last one.

Repurchase? I'm going to Manchester next month and I will probably buy five when I spot it. :'D

HAIRCARE

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Brightening Conditioner

Like it? I'm so hooked on this conditioner, it's the only one I seemo be using! I don't have that much blonde in my hair anymore, but I'm thinking of going a bit blonder someday soon. Until then, this brings out the remaining highlights so well, and it makes my hair soft at the same time.

Repurchase? All the time.

Bumble & bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Primer

Like it? This is one of the few remaining mini's from a birthday gift, and it has lasted me for so long. I did use it backwards though, after blowdrying I would sprits a tiny bit in my hands, rub them together and put it on my ends to make them extra soft. Not what this was designed for, I'm sure, but it worked for me.

Repurchase? No, I had to be really careful to not over-do it, since oils and my hair don't really go together all that well. I've repurchased the other one from the set, the Repair Blow Dry, which I prefered just ever so slightly.

CoLab Dry Shampoo - galactic & unicorn fragrance

Like it? I usually really like the CoLab dry shampoos, and the original scent is my favourite. I saw these new(er) scents and decided to give them a go, but I didn't really like either of them...

Repurchase? CoLab Dry Shampoo? Yes. These particular scents? No.

Bumble & Bumble Prêt-à-Powder dry shampoo

Like it? This bottle has lasted me since about last year, and it's still such a good product. It's quite difficult to get the last bits out, though...

Repurchase? I still have a mini version of it that I'm using first, and I also want to try the spray can version that released not too long ago, first.

OTHER

Origins Comfort Mood Silky Vanilla hand cream

Like it? At first I felt like it was too thick, but after using it for a while I got used to the feeling and started really loving it. I would have never picked this one out myself, but got this as a birthday gift a whole while ago. So happy I got to try this one, as I absolutely love the smell of it!

Repurchase? I've got many hand creams to use up first (I squeezed out the last bits of this tube into a pot, I've got a Clinique mini from the Advent Calendar, a l'Occitane mini from a gift for my latest birthday, and another pot I got from the same friend that gave me the Origins one. She knows I luuuuuuv me a good hand cream!) but I think I will definitely buy this one again when I finally use those ones up!

l'Occitane Ultra Rich Body Lotion (mini)

Like it? I absolutely did! This came in a birthday set, filled with lovely l'Occitane goodies. The "neutral" scent is so good. I love me a scent that's not too strong or sweet for my body products. It's sort of a shea butter scent, if I had to name one thing. Definitely love this body lotion.

Repurchase? You see, I always repurchase my Rituals Tao body cream, and I have one I also got as a gift from &Other Stories that I've only used a handful of times. But! I think I might also look into buying the l'Occitane one when I use those up.

ThisWorks Deep Sleep Pillow Spray

Like it? I love using a pillow spray to help me get to sleep. This is the very best one I've tried so far, I love the lavendery smell and it really knocks me out (in a good way).

Repurchase? Definitely!

&Other Stories Studion scented candle

Like it? I loved the scent, and I love the look of the jar, but it's such a shame the porcelain is matte and textured. The smoke really stained the white jar on the inside and I can't wipe it off. I really want to repurpose this one, but it looks so dirty on the inside. I wish it was a polished porcelain on the inside, maybe then it wouldn't stain so much.

Repurchase? I might, some day, but I love trying out new candles all the time. We'll see.

Phew! That was a LOT of empties right there. Let me know how you enjoyed it, and if you've got anything to share about these products, let me know in the comments below!

Lots of love,
