Empties #21

Hey everyone!

I've got another Empties for you. I can't believe how much I go through in the span of two months, like honestly. Can you believe this??? It's true!

It's mostly makeup this time, as for some reason, with skin care, I just opened a lot of new ones at the beginning of the two months I guess, so I haven't finished a lot of them yet... They'll probably all appear in the next one.

Let's dive in.

The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer

Like it? I was so amazed by this primer! It feels siliconey, but not heavy at all. It's a little mattifying, but not drying. It's super affordable and lasts a really long time. My makeup goes on so smooth when I'm wearing this! I actually have a little bit left, but I put it into a little plastic container so I could really squeeze out the last bits with my two hands and make sure there wasn't anything left...

Repurchase? Not at the moment, as I've got a lot of primers to go through first! The ones that are lying around will probably last me until the end of the year, but I'm definitely thinking of repurchasing this particular one at some point.

Benefit The POREfessional Pearl Primer

Like it? I must say I sort of knew this primer would work for me, as I used to love the original version. I actually think this one is a little bit better than the original, as for some reason it feels lighter in texture and really does give that bit of a glow, to prevent your foundation from looking really dry and cakey.

Repurchase? For the same reason as before: not at the moment, but I highly recommend this one, especially if you've loved the original POREfessional primer already.

NYX Highlight&Contour Pro Single - 03 Cream

Like it? I absolutely loved this for traveling, but I definitely grabbed for it regularly on normal days as well. I wish Nyx would make a 4-pan palette so I didn't have to buy all eight shades, but this yellow shade, almost "banana powder", is perfect for setting the under eye area. I did prefer the lighter one a tiny bit better, 02 Soft Light, as that one suited my skin a bit better and brightened the area a bit more as well.

Repurchase? I was actually thinking of making my own palette soon. I saw they have blushes now to put in there as well, so I might have been able to justify the extra spaces in the 8-pan palette. Then I went and picked up the Nip+Fab contour palette last month and I guess I should really use that one up first, as it has similar shades in there that work the same.

BareMinerals Complexion Rescua - Vanilla 02

Like it? I'm amazed this base worked so well for me, as I usually don't get on with products that contain SPF in it. This one has SPF 30, which is amazing for a tinted moisturiser, as I tend to wear them most in the warmer months. I loved the shade as well, it suited me really well!

Repurchase? I'm still hesitant, I think I prefer the Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done tinted moisturiser a little bit better, so I might get that one instead if I feel like it. I have loads of other foundations to go through anyways, before I go and buy even more base products...

Clinique Chubby Stick Balm - 06 Woppin' Watermelon (mini)

Like it? It was fun to test this one out, but pink lippies aren't really my thing. I loved that this one is a balm, and not a lipstick, so the shade wasn't too in-your-face and I could just wear is as a lip balm underneath other lipsticks.

Repurchase? I'm afraid not.

Chanel Les Beige Healthy Glow Multi-Colour - Marinière N°02

Like it? If I had to name one bronzer that is my all time favourite, it's this limited edition one from SS15. Don't you worry, I bought a back-up at the time and I have one that's still untouched in my drawers! The new one from this year is so pretty as well, so I might have found a replacement there...

Repurchase? Sadly, I can't. This would be the only thing I would ever use if that were possible.

Nyx Matte Finish Setting Spray

Like it? Holy grail, only setting spray I use, ladida, you know the drill. Forever in my heart.

Repurchase? Already done!

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume mascara

Like it? It was a funny one, this mascara. I was in two minds about it for a really long time. I'm still not sure if it's my favourite or I hate it. It definitely worked better when it started to dry out a bit more, but it wouldn't really make them really voluminous or hold a curl during the day. It did make them separated and I loved the look of it when first applied. It just didn't wear well.

Repurchase? Probably not.

Mac Fix+ face mist - Lavender

Like it? It's a good product to have around for praying your brush before going into highlighter or glittery shimmery eyeshadows. Everone needs this product in their life, I reckon.

Repurchase? Definitely! I really want to check out the other scents, too.

Lottie Soap Star solid brush cleanser

Like it? I'm so happy they have this product available in Belgium now, as for some reason I can't order it off FeelUnique anymore (which is what I used to do all the time...). It's such a nice way to clean your brushes, as it's super effective, leaves them really soft and it's super affordable as well. Don't go and buy the BeautyBlender solid cleanser when you can just as well use this one, it's just as good.

Repurchase? I always make sure I've got a few of these around so I never run out!

Nyx On The Spot makeup brush spray cleaner

Like it? I don't clean my brushes nearly as often as I should. It's probably because I own so many, and I might as well switch to another clean brush before washing the dirty one. I use the spot cleaner mainly for eyeshadow brushes, because I don't go and wash them with water when I just want to make sure they don't transfer pigment from the last one I used. I just grab a paper towel, spray a bit of the cleanser on it and swirl my brush around. I don't recommend doing this all the time; after a while, your eyeshadow brushes need a good cleanse with water and soap, too. But for in-between cleansing, this is definitely a time saver.

Repurchase? Already have a backup.

Essence Brighten Up! banana powder

I forgot to include this in the picture above, as I was still using up the very last bits when I took the pictures for this post...

Like it? I think this is an amazing powder for the price. I loved using it especially for setting my undereye concealer, as it is so brightening. It lasted me pretty well, although it did have a bit of kick up when using it.

Repurchase? Not at the minute. I've got a million other powders to use up first, but I definitely recommend this one, especially if you're on a budget!

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream

Like it? I'm back, hooked on this moisturiser. It is such a good one for my oily combination skin, and works well together with the Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate, which I mix it with in the morning. The downside of it is the packaging, for me. I hate that it comes in a pot, rather than a tube. I always prefer my moisturisers to come in a tube, it's way easier to take with me traveling, to dose the product and to make sure everything stays hygienic. I've dropped this pot multiple times when it wasn't closed and all the product came out. Obviously I didn't want to waste it so I put it back in but thinking about it now, that was so unhygienic! So yeah, if all the skin care brands would just take my advice and put everything in a tube packaging, that would be great.

Repurchase? I'm already on another one of these. The pro's outweigh the cons for me on this one.

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water - sensitive skin

Like it? I can't recommend this product enough. I use the big bottle as well as the small one on the daily. I keep a mini size aside for traveling, or I take it with me to take my makeup off before going for a swim after work.

Repurchase? The bathroom cupboard is filled with these, and I cannot recommend this one enough.

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads

Like it? It was interesting to try these, and I definitely think it's a good product. I do think it's a bit expensive for what it is, considering there are only 60 pads in there. They are really handy for when you're in a rush, or you want to take it traveling or something, but I do think it's still better to just use a cotton pad and the actual toner, probably value-for-money-wise. I usually used these in the morning, before applying any moisturisers or creams. In the evening I prefered my other toner, after cleansing.

Repurchase? Not at the moment.

Cath Kidston hand cream - Blossom Birds

Like it? It's a great size for putting in my hand bag, but it wasn't my absolute favourite scent. Other than that, it did do a good job at moisturising my hands, but nothing revolutionary. The design is cute though!

Repurchase? Not at the moment.

Clinique Deep Comfort hand and cuticle cream (mini)

Like it? At first it feels really nice and lightweight, but after a few minutes you can feel the effects of it being lightweight: it sinks into the skin so quickly and for a hand cream, that's really not what I need. I need something that keeps my hands soft and moisturised for a few hours, and this one doesn't do that.

Repurchase? Nope. I definitely think there are better ones out there! It was nice to try it out though.

Rituals The Ritual Of Dao deodorant (full size + mini)

Like it? I'm hooked on the Rituals deodorants and I will always have one around. Especially the mini one is nice to put in my hand bag! It's such a good size and it smells great.

Repurchase? Always.

Ultra Doux/Ultimate Blends Camomile shampoo

Like it?
I use this one especially for keeping the blonde bits looking great, and it makes my hair super soft as well. Highly recommend.

Repurchase? Always.

Bumble&Bumble Thickening shampoo (full size + mini) & conditioner (mini)

Like it?
Definitely a winner for me! I love the shampoo a lot, it really helps my hair to get a bit more hold. The conditioner however, I'm not a massive fan of. I prefer using one that leaves my hair soft, and this one doesn't really do that.

Repurchase? The shampoo? Yes. The conditioner, no.

Aveda Thickening Tonic

Like it?
I'm definitely hooked on sprays now instead of volumising mousses. It's less messy and I just love the way they feel. This one smells amazing, too, somewhat of herbs.

Repurchase? I'm currently using one from Ouai which I like very much as well. I might end up repurchasing this one at some point, we'll see.

CoLab Dry Shampoo - original fragrance

Like it?
This is my absolute favourite scent and I always need to pick it up when I'm in the UK. To this day I haven't found it in store here in Belgium. I love the CoLab dry shampoos a lot! They don't leave a white residue in my hair and they smell amazing.

Repurchase? Definitely.

Lots of love,
