Makeup Haul

10:00

Hey everyone!

It's been a while since I've shown you what I've picked up since the last time I did a haul.
It's quite excessive, since I've shopped online a bit, but I also went to the UK twice in May, which always means I come back with some goodies I can't immediately get hold of here in Belgium. I went a bit crazy on the lippie-front, which is so weird for me...

I've been able to test out most of them so I can give you a review on some of them as well, telling you about my experience with the products.

PS: sorry for the tan lines on the swatch pictures. I always wear a watch and I took these after spending 4 days in Sunny Manchester!

Cover FX Mattifying Primer with anti-acne treatment (mini)

I've only tried it a handful of times at this point, but this primer feels like nothing else I've tried before. It has the consistency of a skincare product, as if I'm putting on a moisturiser that is really going to solve all my acne problems. I feel like this one needs a minute before applying anything else, but once it's on, it feels so great. I will definitely give a full opinion at some point once I've properly incorporated it into my makeup routine, and tested it out with different foundations as well.

BareMinerals BarePro Performance Wear liquid foundation - Aspen 04

Although the shade I picked is supposed to be neutral, it still leans quite yellow. That being said, it spreads out quite easily, which makes it not look too yellow. The formula is quite watery, which surprises me, as there's an SPF in this foundation. For my personal preferences, it's a bit too runny of a formula, but I can still make it work. I do find that I need to use more product because of it: a sponge as well as a brush soaks up the product quite easily, and I really need to build it up if I want a good coverage from it. I reckon it will wear beautifully with warmer weather though, as the formula feels really light on the skin.

Cover FX Power Play foundation - N20

When I first swatched this on my hand, next to a few other foundations I own, I found it leaned quite pink toned in comparison. Which was weird, because I definitely picked the one that said "neutral". Honeslty, when I went to apply it, it really didn't look that pink anymore and I was fine with the shade. Now it's a bit tricky to apply this one: it's a really thick consistency and a bit sticky at first, but it dries down pretty matte. I usually apply foundation with a brush, but I find it can be a bit streaky when I use a brush with this particular foundation. I don't like sponges, but I would definitely recommend using a sponge with the Power Play, as it makes it spread out a bit easier and also takes away from the very thick formula a little bit. It still gives you that nice full coverage. Overall very chuffed with this, and I'm happy I've found a way to work with it.

BareMinerals SPF20 Correcting Concealer - Light 1

This little dinky pot concealer was looking so cute, I couldn't NOT pick it up. It's very lightweight and creamy in texture, although it dries down to a matte finish. The lightest shade is not that light actually, but I guess that's because it's supposed to be more of a corrector than a coverage concealer. It's definitely supposed for the under eye area, as it's quite orange in undertone - to cancel out the blue/purple tones. I've not actually worn it yet, as I've got so many concealers in rotation at the moment, I really want to use up some of them first, but I've swatched it and I can already tell it's a super pretty product. Excited to start incorporating this into my routine.

BareMinerals BarePro 16-HR Full Coverage Concealer - Fair/Light-Warm 02

Another concealer from the brand, I seem to be very much into their base products lately! I think they are really nailing it, both with the shade selection and types of products lately. Anyways, this one is from the BarePro range, and this shade is definitely a lot lighter in tone! It's thicker in consistency and is definitely more heavy-duty than the one before mentioned. Again, I've only swatched it, as I don't want to use it straight away. I will definitely report back on both of the concealers when I've properly tested them out!

Becca Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder

This product is the most revolutionary thing I've ever tried. I'd heard a lot about it, and was assured by the lady at Space.NK that it would be perfect for my oily skin, as after a while it would have a good effect on my skin, because hydration means the oils wouldn't have to come through as much. I'm not quite sure if that's true, but boy is this powder refreshing! It's so weird to say that about a powder, but when you swatch it with your fingers, it just feels like a very finely milled powder. When you use a powder brush to apply it to your face, it honestly feels as if it's wet, but then it isn't. It's the weirdest sensation to describe, but I'm so happy to have this one to try out. The tin is half-empty though, and I hope that was intentional, not that I accidentally have a half-empty pot. On the other hand, it's not a lot of product in there, which is a bummer. But yeah, such a pleasure to have this one to try out and review soon.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder - Dim Light (mini)

As much as people keep saying this is not a highlighter, for me it's not so much an all-over-the-face product. I'm not that big a fan of "the glow" because I go oily throughout the day anyways, so I mainly use this powder for the high points of the face, when I just want a bit of something, but not an actual highlight. I've been trying to use it on the daily, just for when I don't feel like wearing too much highlighter (which YES, that sometimes happens!), but then sometimes I follow up with an actual highlighter just on the cheekbones, and that seems to work well so far. I'm glad I got to pick up a mini-version to try it out, as buying the full-size would have been a waste of money. But it'll look good on instagram pictures I'm sure :-D

Mac x Nicopanda Gleamer Face Powder

I had never heard of Nicopanda, nor did the packaging interest me at all. It looked really gimmicky to me. I did think this looked amazing on the website, thinking it was a blush. I sort of got fooled, and apparently it's a face powder. Not a smart move.

I should have researched it a bit before I went to purchase, but in the end it's sort of very similar to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder, in the way that it gives a very subtle glow, not much colour, but can be used all over the face for people that want an all-over glow. I do use it, but sort of because I've spent the money and want to make use out of it, rather than really loving it...

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Multi-Colour Powder - Medium

This new, limited edition Healthy Glow range is just to die for! The minute I saw the powders, I knew I had to get one. The light one seemed a bit too light for me, and would be more of a regular "glowing" powder, rather than a bronzer. The deep one looked stunning, but the orange in the middle made the powder look really red toned on my face and it wouldn't really suit me. Medium is just perfect and really reminds me of my favourite Chanel bronzer from a few years ago. This powder definitely has a good amount of luminosity to it. I don't want to say "shimmer", because it really doesn't look shimmery, but it's just that right amount of fine shimmer particles in there that make it look like a "healthy glow", as the name suggests. I think this bronzer is going to be my new favourite for summer! Like all Chanel powders, it smells amazing, too. A bit floraly, nothing too strong, but just right. I'm in absolute awe with this powder!

Nip+Fab Contour Palette - 01 Light

I'm not sure why I picked this up as I definitely didn't need it, but I saw it was on offer in Superdrug and always wanted to try some of their products anyways and as I have way too many neutral eyeshadow palettes, it wasn't gonna be one of them. For some reason, this looked like a great one to start with. We'll see how much I reach for it, but so far I think it's great for a drugstore palette. The shades seem to all work well for me, and only the banana powder has quite a bit of kick back. It will be a nice everyday palette though, so maybe if you're lucky, the offer is still on. I got it for £10 instead of £15, if you're interested!

Fenty Beauty Match Stix Trio - Medium 200

This set contains the Matte Skinstick in Bamboo (concealer) and Mocha (contour) and the Shimmer Skinstick in Trippin' (blush). I saw them in store and maybe I would have gone for a highlighter instead of a concealer, but I saw that if you buy them as a trio, it only costs you £4 extra than 2 separate sticks, so I bought a ready-made one in the end. I'm actually quite chuffed with them, as I thought they might be really greasy but they aren't. It's like a cream-to-powder formula, so I'm sure these will work well for me! They blend out really easily too. I do think there could have been a bit more product in here. There's only 7.1 grams of product in here, whereas most sticks have more product in (e.g. ABH foundation stick 9.1g, l'Oréal Infallible Stick 9g, Benefit Watt's Up 9.4g).

The 'conceal' shade is just light enough to work for me, but it won't give that brightening-effect you need to contour with. I think I'll use it more for foundation touch-ups. It actually works well as a foundation for me, it has such an amazing blurring effect.

The contour shade is really nice, it can be used as a bronzer but it's not so warm toned that it won't work as a contour. I'm sure I'll use this loads this summer! It blends really well, and I mainly use my stippling brush to do so.

Finally, the blush I'm very excited about. It reminds me of Nars Orgasm, as this is also a peachy toned blush with gold reflect. On tanned people or darker skin tones it will work as a subtle highlighter as well, as the reflect is more noticeable than the blush undertone. Again, it's not too greasy so it works for me. I might have found the perfect cream products for my oily skin, hooray!

Barry M Liquid Chrome highlighter drops - Beam Me Up

I've been hearing a lot about these liquid highlighters, and I wasn't sure which one to get just by looking at them online. I picked up quite a pale one, but boy is this one metallic and pigmented! I'll probably only use the tiniest bit everytime, as it would be so intense, but I guess everyone that was raving about them, was actually right. For a fraction of the price of some of the high-end ones out there, you get a product just as intense and amazing.

BareMinerals Gen Nude Buttercream lipgloss - Forbidden

I've heard so much about the new Gen Nude range and really wanted to try one of the products. I'm not used to using lipglosses with high pigment, but boy is this one pigmented! I'll usually use them as a topper, but this one can be worn on its own. It feels nice and creamy, and not sticky at all, which I absolutely love. This will come in handy so much in summer! I really want to go and check out the other lip products in the range, as well as the blushes.

Mac Throwbacks lipstick - Shrimpton (Satin)

This one is supposed to be limited edition, but it's a shade that used to exist before and they took out the collection, now they are "throwing it back" with a few of the most popular shades from back in the day. I have a feeling they might keep the most popular shades in the permanent collection again.

I sort of had to get used to this lipstick at first, as I am not used to wearing nude shades as pale as this one. With the right lip liner underneath though, it looks beautiful. It's a true beige nude, with no hint of pink in there whatsoever. I kind of like it for a no-makeup makeup look. The finish is beautiful too: I'd never tried a Satin from Mac, but it's sort of similar to what Urban Decay calls their "comfort matte". It looks matte but doesn't dry out the lips as much as some of the mattes can do. I quite like it now.

Smashbox BE Legendary Lipstick - Cognac

This lipstick came in a lip palette from the Christmas collection in 2016. The only one I really use if I grab for that palette at all, is Cognac. I figured I might as well pick up the full sized lipstick so I can get rid of the palette soon, as it's starting to become really grubby. It's not so much a summer shade but I'm happy it's in my posession.

Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick - Bawse

Superwoman's matte red! I've been wanting to pick up a red, just in case I would ever wear it, and came across this in store. I thought, you know what? The reason I don't wear red lipstick is because I become so aware of it being on my lips and maybe on my teeth, or smudging, and maybe if I buy a liquid lipstick it will take away that fear. So I ended up picking up Bawse, a gorgeous cool toned red, super pigmented and super matte as well. I couldn't wait to try it out and see how it wears. Turns out: it has great staying power! It stayed put throughout an entire dinner, me drinking because the weather is so hot, me doing my workout bits and also me having the need to lick my lips all the time. The weird thing is though, even though it stays put so well, it doesn't feel really drying on the lips, more like a velvet finish. It will transfer just a tiny little bit, because of it not being 100% matte, but that's only if you really rub your lips. And even then, you'll just see the bit of red on your napkin/paper towel/whatever, but you can't tell by the look of your lips that any product has rubbes of. So weird, but in a good way obviously! I might actually be brave enough to wear it out of the house now!

Smashbox set (free with purchase)

Boots had an amazing offer on; with any two Smashbox purchases, you got this amazing set full of mini's of their best-selling products, being the Photo Finish Primer Oil, the Photo Finish oil-free Foundation Primer the Photo Finish Iconic Primer Stick, the 24 Hours Photo Finish Shadow Primer (lots of primers, I know!), a Full Exposure mascara and last but not least, a full-size Be Legendary lipstick in the shade Do No Wrong. As you might have gauged by now, I absolutely love these lipsticks, and this shade is very similar to Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk, only slightly cooler toned (but almost identical). It comes in this amazing see-through bag, which can be used as a makeup bag as well. Nothing but good in this set, and I can't wait to try out all of these!
