Empties #22

10:00

Hey everyone!

I go through products like nothing else. Or so it seems, at least. I do this type of post every two months and it really surprises me how many things I manage to use up within that time.

Let's see what I've been going through, what worked and what didn't. There's a lot of skincare involved this month...

PS: I know this type of post is very much TL;DR, and I don't expect you to read every single thing. Just skip to the category you are interested in, and if you see a product in the pictures that you want to know about, just scroll until you see it! That's mainly why I like to categorise this post, so it's easier for my readers to find the thing they are interested in ^^ there's makeup, skincare, haircare and a few other bits at the end. Enjoy!

MAKEUP

Maybelline Total Temptation mascara

Like it? I've used this up through my Project Pan, and although I usually get rid of mascaras after a few months, I am happy to say goodbye to this one. I really tried to enjoy it and it's not a bad mascara, it's just not my absolute favourite brush.

Repurchase? Nope. I don't repurchase a lot of mascaras as I love trying out new ones. But I'll definitely opt for a different one than this particular mascara.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick - Bow 'n' Arrow

Like it? I loved it a lot when I first got it and definitely got a lot of use out of it. Lately I wanted to use it more fot my Project Pan and figured I couldn't really make the cool toned brown work in summer. I think it's gone all gross now and I really think it's better to get rid of it. I loved the shade though!

Repurchase? No, and that's for two reasons. One: I still have this same shade lying around in the lipstick bullet, and I don't really wear a lot of liquid lipsticks anyways. Two: just like many people in the beauty community, I think Kat has really made a mistake by bringing out her opinion on vaccinations like this, as many people will disagree and honestly, it's such a waste of time and money to spend another dime on her brand, when there are so many other amazing brands out there.

Rimmel Insta Fix & Matte translucent powder

Like it? I do love this one a lot and I think it's a really good powder, however I am a bigger fan of the classic Stay Matte powder, also by Rimmel.

Repurchase? I might, as I can't get hold of my Stay Matte in the transparent shade here in Belgium (in store) so when I'm lazy and I run out of all my powders, I might eventually buy this!

ColourPop Super Shock Cheek highlighter - Lunch Money

Like it? I really enjoyed using it and thought it has such a unique texture. Unlike anything I'd used before. Such a shame it dries out quite fast, and I think that's the only downside to the product.

Repurchase? No, at least not as long as it's that expensive to get ColourPop stuff shipped over to Belgium. I do think if I look it up I will find a way to order from a European or UK website, but just because it's always been an "unreachable" brand almost, I feel so far removed from it... Still, it would be a lot more expensive over here anyways. So I'll give it a pass!

Zoeva Graphic Brows brow pencil - Ammos

Like it? I absolutely loved everything about this brow pencil and I was majorly impressed. The shade was slightly too light for me, but I made it work on days where I wanted more natural looking brows. It's very compareable to the ABH Brow Wiz in that it's super skinny, it has a good brow spoolie at the other end, it has great pigmentation and good longevity. What more could you need from a brow pencil? Maybe the shade range could be a little better...

Repurchase? I might! Although I won't just go and order just the pencil. It's always such a faff to order from the Zoeva website, so if I find it on another stockist's website I will probably buy this again.

Nyx Micro Brow Pencil - 01 Taupe

Like it? Absolutely! I think it's very compareable to the Zoeva one and the price point is great. There's a bigger shade selection and Taupe is a great shade match for me personally. I did make the honest mistake of twisting it up completely, just to see how much was still left and I swear I could have gotten a week's worth of product out of it, but it got stuck and I couldn't twist it back, so obviously it snapped and I wasted a lot of product! Don't make that same mistake if you buy this, please!

Repurchase? I will, yes!

Nyx Matte Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray

Like it? All time favourite. 'Nuff said.

Repurchase? Always! Although I'm currently trying out the Mac Fix+ Matte, so I will definitely let you know which one I like better.

SKINCARE

Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser

Like it? I did enjoy the effect it has on my skin, as it always left it super clean. I didn't really like the scrubbing particules in there just as much though, for some reason I think it's a bit too much for a cleanser.

Repurchase? Probably not, although I'm trying out the moisturiser from this same range, and I'm thinking about picking up the face mask of the Rare Earth range as well, after I finish the one I'm currently using.

Avène Trixera Nutri-Fluid Cleanser (face and body)

Like it? This was such a weird product for me, as I couldn't get my head around the fact I could use it on my body and my face. I'll always use something gentle on my face, thank you. My body can take a bit more roughness though. I did mainly use this for my body, as it is actually for dry skin, which I don't have (I got it as a sample at the pharmacy, I would have never picked it up myself). Whenever I felt like acne was developing on my back, or my chest just needed that extra cleanse, I would use this in the shower. Only once I used it on my face because I forgot to bring my cleanser into the shower and was too lazy to go get it. It worked alright but I would never just use it on my face.  I can highly recommend it for people with dry skin though, it wasn't half bad.

Repurchase? No. I do still have a second one around, somewhere. I might tell my brother to use it for his developping back acne (Puberty finally hit him :'D)

Clinique Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser (mini)

Like it? This came in my Advent Calendar from last Christmas, but I saved it for travels as it's so handy to take with you. I must say it really wasn't my favourite. Again, I don't think this was catered for my oily-combination skin, but even then I think it didn't do a very good job of getting every bit of dirt out of my pores.

Repurchase? No. It didn't "wow" me.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky-Clean Scrub

Like it? I definitely enjoy this scrub, as it's not too expensive but feels like it's really doing its job. It makes my face feel refreshed, clean and healthy.

Repurchase? Already did!

The Body Shop Seaweed Oil-Balancing Toner

Like it? I love this range a lot as well and definitely like this toner for when I'm broke and don't feel like spending loads on a product like this. I've purchased this product a few times already and I think it's just a really good one for my oily skin. I also have the scrub from the Seaweed range, which I love a lot as well.

Repurchase? Defintely, it will always be my safe-option for when I run out of toner and don't want to order online.

Pixi Glow Tonic (mini)

Like it? I was so curious to see what all the hype was about, so I ordered a miniature version of what's supposed to be a Glow Tonic. I must say I thought it was going to be bigger when I did, but it was a nice way to be able to try it before splurging. I love it a lot, as it is gentle enough for my skin, but still does the job well. It smells amazing, too!

Repurchase? Already have a bigger size, although still not the biggest available. Need to look into that!

Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate

Like it? I like this one just as much as the Midnight Recovery Oil and I really think they go hand in hand.  It perks my skin up a bit and really does help to balance out the dry patches I can have sometimes, but never makes me greasy looking.

Repurchase? Will do when I have money :'D this baby is expensive, but I must say it lasted me about 9 or 10 months, using it every single day, so that's really good value for money.

Kiehl's Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate

Like it? I enjoyed it while it lasted, but honestly, I'm just so on the fence about anti-wrinkle products. I know that you don't see immediate results and it's really about saving it in the long-term and preventing any more lines. It's just quite frustrating to not see results immediately, and even though I will thank my past self for using it when I'm older, but I really think I'm still in the stage of saving my acne breakouts, rather than developing fine lines.

Repurchase? This baby is hella expensive, so I will try to push it as long as I can before I buy this again. I might go back in a few years, but just not right now.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel

Like it? Short and sweet: I've used it for years and really can't do without this in my skincare routine.

Repurchase? Always!

Kiehl's Rosa Arctica eye cream

Like it? It was quite an interesting one to use, as it had a very unique texture. It felt quite moussey and I found it hard to work into my skin, but overall I really liked it once it had sunk in, and it lasted me a really long time.

Repurchase? I might, one day, although I feel like there are eye creams I enjoy just a bit more.

Clinique Pep-Start eye-cream

Like it? It's very lightweight, which I appreciate a lot for the day time. I do also think it lasted me a really long time, which is always good. I might try to put it in the fridge if I happen to repurchase it, as that would even make the de-puffing more effective. It's also not too expensive either, so I was very pleased with this eye cream overall!

Repurchase? Not at the moment, as I have a different one at the moment, but I'm definitely up for another one of these.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant

Like it? This is my favourite lip balm of all time. Although I usually prefer sticks over containers like this one, I can get over that because this lip balm is so moisturising, comfortable on the lips and just a real gem. I hate that I can only get these in duty-free or on the plane... I wish I could just forever stock up on them!

Repurchase? I picked up a duo-pack of these last time I traveled to Manchester. I just have to have this on hand at all times!

HAIR CARE

Ultra Doux (Ultimate Blends) Chamomile shampoo for blonde hair

Like it? I use this one all the time and I have been ever since I was a child. This stuff is amazing and makes my hair super soft.

Repurchase? All the time.

Ultra Doux (Ultimate Blends) Chamomile hair oil for blonde hair

Like it? I think this is such a great product to use alongside the shampoo. I feel like it really treated my blonde ends well and helped it keep it soft.

Repurchase? Maybe not, I'm curious to try other brands' products that are similar to this, and I do think it's better for me to use a spray rather than a full-on oil on my already grease-prone hair!

John Frieda Sheer Blonde highlight activating conditioner

Like it? I use this all the time and it's affordable and good. Nothing more to add to that!

Repurchase? I recently picked it up at a 2-for-1, so total bargain!

Ouai Dry Shampoo (mini)

Like it? I mentioned this in my disappointing products post so that really says enough. It really isn't my cup of tea and I'm glad I only picked up the travel size. Checkout the full post to read the tea on it.

Repurchase? Obviously not.

OTHER

St. Tropez Gradual Tan classic - Light/Medium

Like it? I love the texture of this product. I love the particular colour tone it gives off. I don't like that it's completely white and so there's no guidance colour, which means I do get streaks from time to time...

Repurchase? I'm going to look into the one with guidance colour first, but also I want to try the Dove one, which my mum uses all the time... Definitely not repurchasing this particular version of the gradual tan any time soon.

Rituals The Ritual Of Dao 24h anti-perspirant spray

Like it? I use it all the time and although it's pretty expensive, I don't mind splurging on it once in a while. I love this scent the most out of the ones they do.

Repurchase? Sure!

Rituals The Ritual Of Dao Mindful Body Scrub

Like it? I love this scrub for the texture, and I wish Rituals would do this one in the other fragrances as well. They do the sugar/salt scrubs most of the time, but this is the only scent that comes in a soft creamy scrub rather than a salt/sugar scrub. I love it so much for that!

Repurchase? I do all the time. I would love to know if you know about any affordable, soft creamy body scrubs. Let me know if you do, I'd love to venture out a bit more.

l'Occitane Hand Cream with Shea (mini)

Like it? I've loved this in the pas and I'm always up for a good hand cream. So happy to have received this in a gift set for my birthday back in December!

Repurchase? I won't at the minute because I have so many different hand creams laying around that need to be used up first. But I do highly recommend this particular hand cream, if you're on the lookout for a good one.

Lottie London Soap Star solid brush cleanser

Like it? I've expressed my love for this in the past, and it's really all I use for cleaning my brushes. It makes them feel so soft and cleaning them goes so fast with this!

Repurchase? Always.

Hope you enjoyed this post, I seem to pick up from a few people that y'all really love this type of mini-reviews, so as long as you guys enjoy this format, I will keep doing my empties posts! Do let me know what you think ;-)
