Esqido Gel Eyeliner Pencil: review

10:00

Hey everyone!

It's been a while since I've done a full review on this blog, but I was lucky enough to receive the new Esqido Gel Eyeliner* pencils recently, so today I want to give my full opinion on them.

The first thing you might think is: how can you have so much to say about a pencil eyeliner? Well, the truth is: I don't. I'm just very impressed by these and I'm so happy I was able to test them out for you all.

I haven't been wearing pencil eyeliners in ages, so I was very curious to see if these would change my daily makeup routine at all. Maybe they wouldn't really make me wear pencil liner again, but maybe they would convince me it was worth another try. I got sent the black eyeliner and the brown eyeliner, and I honestly hope they will bring out more colours soon. Maybe a grey would look nice, or a dark blue or green?

Let's talk about the consistency of these pencils. They feel really creamy when you apply them and you do have some time to work with them before they set. They are waterproof so after a minute or so, they set down and they won't budge all day! The one thing that keeps me from wearing pencil liner on a daily basis is that I have extremely oily eyelids and I feel like having to prime+set my eyelids before applying any kind of pencil, but then it does tend to transfer on my brow bone if the pencil is too creamy, as I have quite hooded eyelids. The thought of not having to worry about that is amazing. I can't believe I've never looked into waterproof pencils before, but then again, there's not a lot that I know of...

The thing I tend to do on a regular work day for a quick fix is is I apply some, not too neatly, on my upper lash line and sort of blur the edges with my finger. It gives me a bit of colour on my lid straight away and it doesn't take too long. I don't have to prime, as this is so budge-proof! I usually use the brown liner for this daily look.

The black one I'll usually use in combination with some matte brown eyeshadows, as a black liner can look quite harsh on me for a daily work-look. I use the liner first, but after priming, as I will always do that when I'm going to wear eyeshadows anyways. Then to tone down the black I'll go over with dark brown eyeshadow, then blend out further outwards with lighter toned browns. A classic smokey eye look, really!

These liners are so practical as well, as they are twist-up and you don't necessarily have to sharpen them, but if you do wish to make the tip just a but pointier, it does have a sharpner tool on the inside if you take off the end cap. So handy!

The colours they do now are so perfect, the brown is a perfect mid-tone brown (not too cool toned but not too warm either, and still pretty dark but not too dark so that it doesn't look too similar to the black) and I honestly couldn't be happier with these pencils.

At $16 I think they are very reasonably priced, but I wouldn't have a clue about shipping costs to EU/UK. Be aware they are an American brand, but if you were looking for some good lashes and/or lash glue and were going to order from them anyways, you might want to go and check out the pencils while you're there.

Let me know what your thoughts are if you've tried these yourself, or if you're interested in checking them out! Obviously I'd like to thank Esqido for sending me these for consideration, I've had a great time working with their products so far and I can't wait to see where they're headed with more makeup products in the future!

Lots of love,
