September Favourites

10:00

September was definitely the month of finding my way back into the right foundation, and also discovering how bad a lot of foundations actually are for my skin. I've sort of grown out of wearing it and survived on concealer only for the past few months. My skin had cleared up so well so I really didn't need to cover it in foundation, but now I'm stuck in an office all day everyday again, it's starting to play up again. The air is very dry and because in the morning it's cold and I turn on the fireplace, then people come round to buy a fireplace and a few more will be turned on, then it's too hot and we have to put on the aircon, the temperature changes all the time and I feel like it's just not ideal for my skin.

It's been a struggle to find my way back into full coverage makeup, but I'm getting there. I loved wearing light bases over summer but it's time to go back to the heavy duty concealers and powders.

There have been a few new discoveries, but I've also rekindled with some old, trustworthy base products. Let's dive in!

BareMinerals BarePro Performance Wear Powder Foundation - 02 Dawn

From the look of it, you can tell how much I love this product. I use it in every season, as I reached for it in summer just to set my concealer and add that little bit of coverage, in winter to make sure all my spots are well covered. It's also the one product I take with me if I know I'm going to have to touch up my makeup during the day. I've already stocked up on this so I have a back up at all times!

Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer - Vanilla

I've been converted to cream concealers and I've tried quite a few of them now, but none of them are so high coverage and have such great staying power as this particular one. The shade is very light so I did pick up a slightly darker one to use on my face, but it's great for underneath the eyes too; it doesn't really crease and this way it can brighten up all at once. I'm such a sucker for a good concealer and this is honestly at the top of my ranking of all the concealers I've ever tried in my life. (Not a lie!)

BareMinerals Invisible Bronze powder bronzer - Fair to Light

A fairly new addition to my collection is this beautiful bronzer. I've been getting more and more into BareMinerals products, especially for my base, and this seemed like such a fun one to try out. I can highly recommend this for very fair skin tones, as it's probably one of the fairest bronzers I've ever seen. It has a slight sheen to it, so it's not flat looking, and it's honestly a perfect winter shade for me. It's so subtle yet so beautiful on the skin. I bet I'll reach for it loads in the next months.

Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic blush - Love is the Drug

I wanted to find a replacement for my Jardin de Chanel blush, which I'm trying to use up in my Project Pan, and I know I will run out of at some point (as it was limited edition, I can't repurchase it!) It has similar tones to this one and that's the main reason I picked up this blush. I've always wanted to try a Charlotte Tilbury blush and this seemed like a good excuse to finally pick one up. I know very well this looks like a breast, but hey. It's pretty and I like it, so I will use it in pictures all the time. So far I've only used it a handful of times and I must say it's a lot more intensely pigmented than I expected! The colour is great though but I really need to use a light hand and really blend it out so that I don't look like a clown, but it's made me really want the Pillow Talk blush as well, which I immediately ordered and also have in my collection now. I just wanted to mention this particular shade as it's from the permanent collection, but I'm sure you'll see loads of the Pillow Talk blush over on my instagram ;-)

Esqido Gel Liner waterproof pencils*

These last ones were gifted to me to review, but I must say I was so pleasantly surprised by their quality! They are seriously waterproof, also very pigmented, have great lasting power and have completely converted me back to pencil liners! I have a full review if you want to check it out, right here on this very blog. Such a great surprise to discover these, and if you can get your hands in them, do check them out! They are amazing.
