3 Looks with Urban Decay Born To Run

10:00

Hey everyone,

I was planning on doing a Palette Bingo for today's post, but I honestly think I would do this palette injustice if I approached it this way. I rather wanted to show you the full potential of this gorgeous Urban Decay Born To Run palette, as I think it's one of UD's best curated palette they've ever created.

You can create endless looks with this palette, and although it's full of neutrals, there are a few great pops of colour to make a look interesting. It contains a lot of different colours and still it doesn't look like they were just thrown in. They are muted enough to make the look wearable, but bright enough to make it interesting.

Enough with the rambling now, let's go on with the looks.

LOOK 1

For the first look I focused on the berry tones in this palette. There's really only two of them in this palette, but combined with the right shades in the rest of the palette,  they can contribute to a cool and intense berry eye look. The shades I used are:

1. Breakaway, a pale highlighting shimmery shade
2. Blaze, a champagne shimmery shade
3. Weekender, a pale beige matte shade
4. Still Shot, a peachy matte shade
5. Hell Ride, a matte dark berry shade
6. Wildheart, a bright berry shimmery shade
7. Punk, a dark plum matte shade

Starting off, I'm priming my eyelids and setting them with the shade Weekender to create an even base. As a transition in the crease I'm using Still Shot, so that the darker shades on top will blend more easily. I also apply it underneath the lower lash line with a fluffy eyeshadow brush.

Then I start building the berry tones. First I go into Hell Ride all up in the crease and underneath the lower lash line, focusing on the outer corners. I do this with a fluffy eyeshadow brush so all the edges very blended out. Then I allpy the shade Wildheart on the mobile lid with my finger. I go in with Punk on a tapered crease brush and focus this on the outer corners of both the lid and the lower lahs line, focusing this a lot more than the berry shades. This makes the look a lot more smokey. To blend the edges, I go back in with Hell Ride on a fluffy brush and go over everything I just did. I do the same with Still Shot on that same fluffy brush.

For a final touch of brightening the look, I go into Blaze and focus this on the inner half of the mobile lid. With just Wildheart on the lid it looked a bit too dark and intense, in my opinion. To highlight the inner corners I go in with Breakaway as a final touch.

A good coat of mascara and voila! Look number 1 is done. I did go ham with the blush, I've noticed, but I love using it lately and I think it's becoming a real trend to make it more noticeable. Am I doing it right though?

LOOK 2

I wanted to create a really warm toned look for the second one, and although there are a lot of very colourful orange shades in here, I mainly focused on the more neutral, lighter warm shades in the palette. I used the shades:

1. Breakaway, a pale highlighting shimmery shade
2. Stranded, a golden shimmery shade
3. Weekender, a pale beige matte shade
4. Still Shot, a peachy matte shade
5. Riff, a warm medium brown matte shade
6. Good As Gone, a dark chocolate brown matte with specks of glitter (that you hardly notice)
7. Ignite, a light copper shimmery shade

After priming my lids, I went into the shade Weekender to create an even base on the lid and underneath the lower lash line. I used Breakaway to highlight the brow bone and the inner corner.

To start creating the transition in the crease, I picked up Still Shot on a fluffy brush, and also ran it along the lower lash line. Then with a more precise crease brush I applied Riff in the crease and on the lower lash line.

On the outer V of the lid I took Good As Gone, to make the whole look more smokey. Then with my finger I applied Ignite in the centre of the lid, and took Stranded on the inner portion of the lid. These last three shades took a bit of time to apply, blend, intensify, blend into each other and not blend away. But I got there in the end, I just wanted all three of the shades to be really visible in the look.

I kept it simple with a very natural mascara look and it's done!

LOOK 3

For the last look I focused on the blue and green shades and wanted to go full-smokey with it. I used the shades:

1. Breakaway, a pale highlighting shimmery shade
2. Stranded, a golden shimmery shade
3. Weekender, a pale beige matte shade
4. Riff, a warm medium brown matte shade
5. Wanderlust, a dark green glittery shade
6. Radio, a dark blue shimmery shade
7. Big Sky, a teal blue glittery shade

As always, I start by applying Weekender all over the lid and the lower lash line. Then I go in with Riff on a fluffy crease brush and start building up the transition shade. This particular shade will help the eyeshadow to not look to dark and smokey, but to put back that bit of warmth into it.

The following shades I built up, re-intensified multiple times and blended together until it all looked nice. First I went into Radio in the crease, to make it dark and smokey. Then I decided I wanted it to look a little bit greener so I took Wanderlust overtop, and also on the lower lash line, and then I put Big Sky on the centre of the lid and into the inner portion as well. After repeating these steps a few times, I took the shades Breakaway and Stranded on a small pointed brush, popped them into the inner corners and slightly onto the inner portion of the lid, to brighten up the look a little bit. You hardly notice it on the photos as it's all blended in together, but this step made a world of difference, trust me.

I love these shades so much but unfortunately, I can't wear them often or for too long, as these are the sort of shades I am allergic to and my eyes get quite stingy and red when a bit of the eyeshadow gets into my eyes! I'm in love with this look though and I think it might be my favourite of this palette.

And that's all for today, folks!
Of course there are still a lot of shades left untouched after this post and there's easily another 3 looks I could come up with using this palette. I just wanted to show you three completely different ones so you could see how very versatile this palette actually is. There are so many good neutrals in here and I could use this palette everyday if I wanted to, and not get bored.

Have any of you got your hands on this palette? Have you shared a look with it on your blog or intstagram? Feel free to share, I'm up for some Born To Run inspiration ;-)

Lots of love,
