Empties #24

10:00

Hey peeps,

I have another load of empty products here. Not as much as usual, but still worth a post, imo.
I know some of you really love these so I thought it would be a good idea to throw this one in here between the more festive content.

MAKEUP

Benefit Boiing Airbrush concealer - No. 1

Like it? I ended up liking this more than I thought I would innitially, but I do think there are better concealers than this one. It kind of depends on what you want from it, and for light coverage days I loved this particular concealer (especially for underneath my eyes). I do still prefer the Boiing Industrial Strength concealer over this one.

Repurchase? Not at this moment. Perhaps some time in the future.

BareMinerals BarePro performance wear powder foundation - Dawn 02

Like it? I absolutely adore this, and I used it all through summer. It gives a good amount of coverage in the way that a powder can do. Great for when I'm just using concealer and want to put some extra coverage all over just to even out my skin tone without using a liquid foundation. I only recently used it up but it lasted me for such a long time! It was quite annoying at the end though and really fell apart once I touched the edge of the pan.

Repurchase? Already stocked up on this!

l'Oréal Paradise Extatic mascara

Like it? This mascara is an older favourite of mine and I seem to have mixed feelings about it. When I first use it it's really good, but it dries out really fast and because it's more of a volumising mascara with a very bristly brush, tiny specks fly around and into my eyes when I apply it and it makes my eyes water like hell! I love using a fresh one but start hating it when it's a bit dries, although it performs really well for a long time, even when it's dryer.

Repurchase? I have a waterproof version laying around, waiting to be tried out for the first time. Maybe that will solve the issue I have with the regular one. To be continued...

Smashbox Full Exposure mascara (mini)

Like it? Actually, I wasn't really impressed with this mascara at all. It was bog standard, from the shape of the bristle brush to the formula. It didn't really do much for my lashes, other than separate them.

Repurchase? Nope. There are way better mascaras out there. I'm currently testing out their new Super Fan mascara and that one seems to be a lot better (although still not the best). I still firmly believe in a good drugstore mascara and brands like l'Oréal and Maybelline do really good ones!

Mac x Fleur De Force lipstick (Ltd. Ed.)

Like it? I was soooooo obsessed with this lipstick and I am devastated I can't repurchase this one! I scraped out the bits remaining in the very bottom of the tube (which is about half a lipstick that you can't apply straight from the bullet, it would be insane not to get the most out of this wonderful shade) and put them in a tiny little container, so I can still use it with a lip brush. It will be gone at some point though, and I am forever on the hunt for a good replacement that looks similar, if not the same. The closest I've come to the shade is with the Urban Decay lipstick in Uptight, but it's a comfort matte finish so it looks a lot more pigmented and slightly darker because it doesn't have that cremesheen finish like this Mac one. Still, if I swatch them on the back of my hand they look really similar and I might just have to find the right gloss to pair it with so that I can still achieve this look.

Repurchase? Unfortunately, I can't! But I've fond myself a (sort of) dupe with the Mac Liptensity lipstick in Doe, the shade is almost identical, it just has more of a satin to matte finish once it has a chance to settle in for a bit. Apart from that, I think it's as good as it's gonna get...

Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer

Like it? It's honestly one of my favourite bronzers ever and I've finally been able to go through an entire one. Funny how it took me so long to finish this, it's not even available in the same packaging anymore. I must have had this for ages... This has just the perfect undertone for my skin tone and especially in winter, it's not too dark but gives such a beautiful tanned look to my pale face.

Repurchase? I'm very curious to try the new formula (in the new packaging) but I have SO many bronzers laying around, I'm not too eager to go and grab one immediately. Who knows, I might actually go and pick one up again in the near future.

Anastasia Brow Definer - Caramel

Like it? I love this pencil a lot, it's firm enough so that it doesn't dispense more product than it needs to. I also really like the spooley on this pencil! The shade range is a bit strange though, I feel like the taupe one - which I usually purchase in the Brow Wiz - did not look the same for the Brow Definer but slightly darker (too dark for my liking) so I ended up buying Caramel - which is slightly warmer - and I really liked it, especially for summer. I thought it really did suit me with a bit of a tan!

Repurchase? It's always a tie between ABH and Benefit, both are really good and it really just depends on my mood which one I'll buy when I need to. So yes, I might atually go and repurchase this one!

Nyx Matte Finish Long-Lasting setting spray

Like it? Love it, always.

Repurchase? If I don't have at least two in stock, do I even have my life together? I think not.

SKINCARE

Ren Clearcalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser

Like it? I have gone through a few ones of these now and I must say it's one of the best cleansers I've ever gotten my hands on - for my oily combination skin, at least.

Repurchase? Definitely, and I actually need to very soon, I'm running out of the cleanser I'm using at the moment!

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye (mini)

Like it? I've used this eye cream before, a few years ago I think, and I remember not really having an opinion on this product. It didn't do much else than any other eye cream would and I actually thought it was quite expensive for that reason. I got this one as a freebie after saving up empty jars and returning them to a physical store, and I must say I liked using it again for a while.

Repurchase? That being said I won't buy it, I prefer a few of their other eye creams over this one. I love the midnight recovery concentrate, though!

Clinique Moisture Surge face spray (travel size)

Like it? I like this extra bit of moisture for the colder months, but I did also go through this mini-size quite fast. Still, I wanted to get the full size and see how long it would take me to go through it and if it was worth the price...

Repurchase? ...so I ended up doing that and I'm now trialling it! I really do like the product but will let you know how long it lasts and if I would continue to stock up on it.

The Body Shop Seaweed pore-cleansing exfoliator

Like it? I was on the hunt for just a regular facial scrub, nothing too fancy. I think I've actually found it with this one. It does the job and doesn't cost a fortune.

Repurchase? I might! Although I still kind of prefer their Tea Tree scrub.

Garnier Micellar waterproof makeup remover (travel size)

Like it? I always have this somewhere in my stash and it's really necassary for when I'm wearing waterproof mascara or a very long-wearing lip product. It's very affordable and I usually have a big bottle in my bathroom cupboard, however these small ones are so good for travelling!

Repurchase? All the time.

HAIR

CoLab Dry Shampoo - Original

Like it? I'll be short with this one: you've seen it before, I love the product but love the scent even more. The only downside to this dry shampoo is that it doesn't seem to work right away. It works a lot better when sprayed in a few hours before, or even before going to bed so that your hair looks clean and voluminous when you wake up.

Repurchase? Already did!

Batiste dry shampoo - tropical

Like it? Unlike CoLab, this dry shampoo does work immediately and I love it for that. This is one of my favourite scents they do as well.

Repurchase? Probably, at some point, I need dry shampoo in my life at all times.

Batiste dry shampoo - nude

Like it? This seemed to be a little bit of a different one, although I'm not sure how much of a difference I experienced. The formula is a little bit lighter and the scent is not as strong as with some other ones they do. I like it.

Repurchase? Yeah, definitely.

John Frieda Go Blonder controlled lightening spray

Like it? Yeah, I love maintaining the blonde bits in my hair and although there's not a lot left in there and I used to be a lot more blonde in the past, this still really helps bringing those highlights out.

Repurchase? Sure!

Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo

Like it? I honestly can't think of anything like this, it feels so very cleansing for when I've loaded up on dry shampoo earlier. It's quite pricey for a shampoo but I love it a lot.

Repurchase? I've started to explore my options for maybe a bit cheaper of an alternative to it. So far there's a new one from Ultimate Blends (called Ultra Doux here in Belgium) that I think might just give the same effect, and even makes my hair a bit softer as the Sunday Shampoo. I might be converted, so we'll see if I ever pick up the Sunday shampoo again.

Bleach London Rosé Shampoo

Like it? I love this shampoo for the reason that I go swimming every week and it could possibly make my highlights slightly green. This shampoo cancels out those greeny tones perfectly.

Repurchase? Already did. I can only order it off Cult Beauty and I never used to order from them, but recently I've discovered how many brands they have on there that are not on FeelUnique (which is where I usually order my makeup and skincare bits from that I can't get hold of in store here in Belgium) and so I think I might place an order on the Cult Beauty website more often. That way I can stock up on this item to fill my basket whenever I need it.

OTHER

Ritual Tao Qi relaxing serum

Like it? I love having this on my bedside table to calm me down when I've had a stressful day. It also helps well for headaches so I usually make sure I take it with me when I'm travelling.

Repurchase? Desperately need to!

Rituals Ritual Of Dao calming bed & body mist

Like it? Definitely, although it doesn't really help me relax and fall asleep as much as the ThisWorks Deep Sleep pillow spray. But I like the fragrance.

Repurchase? I think I better stock up on the ThisWorks one, rather than this Rituals one.

Rituals Ritual Of Dao hand balm

Like it? I love Rituals hand creams and of course, if my mum buys a whole pack of mini hand creams to throw in her bag, it is my duty to make sure I get at least one of them for myself. This is such a good one!

Repurchase? Will definitely go and look for the full sized one.

Yves Rocher eau de toilette - Malaysian Coconut

Like it? I used to love to wear this when I was younger, but now I grabbed it again after all the yeas of having it, I thought it didn't smell sophisticated enough. I'm used ot heavier, more complex fragrances now and this smelled really plain and not exciting. However, I did use this up as a room fragrance, spraying it on my carpet in my room. It's a very summery fragrance but it made me hold onto the summer feeling just that little bit longer.

Repurchase? No.

Ikea candle - Herbal Garden

Like it? It's a funny fragrance, this one. It's supposed to smell of herbs, or at least gardens, but the scent is so subtle you hardly recognise what it's supposed to smell like. Besides, this candle was around €8 where other regular Ikea candles are only €1 or €2 depending on the size, and they burn out a lot better. With this candle, a lot of the wax stuck to one side and didn't melt before the wick was burned up.

Repurchase? I don't think I can, as I'm pretty sure these more "luxe" candles are limited edition whenever they come out.

Ikea candle - Bergamot Blossom

Like it? Just like the Herbal Garden one, this one had such a subtle fragrance you could hardly tell it was burning. That being said I think it was ideal for the bedroom area. I preferred this one over the Herbal Garden candle, but both really didn't burn very well and lots of wax is still left in there.

Repurchase? Can't, limited edition!

Lots of love,
