Project Pan that Product: update #48

08:00

Hey everyone!

It's been over two months since I've done an update on my Project Pan. Like always, I'm just carrying it on from one year to another, and I don't really close it and start it up again every year. I just continue with the products that are in it.

I do always feel like January means a fresh start for everyone and everything, and so there are a few products I'm switching out for multiple reasons.

Please do forgive me for the photography, it's that time of the year where I have literally 30 minutes in the day where I get at least a little bit of light into my room and it's nearly impossible to take well-lit pictures at all these days. I never seem to get the hang of it in the editing process. But I guess these will have to do. :-)

I took out the The Balm Fratboy blush and replaced it with the Burberry Light Glow Natural Blush - No. 6 Tangerine Blush. I also finished up the Urban Decay Vice lipstick - Fuel (cream) and added in the Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick - Honey. Lastly I used up the l'Oréal Paradise Extatic waterproof mascara and switched it for the Lancôme Monsieur Big waterproof mascara.

Today, the products look like this:

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow - Bronze Have More Fun

Unlike what I stated in my previous post, I did not use this a lot. It's such a weird product, in that it's named "creaseless" but I can't wear it without an eyeshadow primer, but then over a primer it doesn't really blend well. I can really only use this whenever I have some more time to get ready, and I'd really hoped it would work well as a one-shadow quick-fix in the morning on workdays. Sadly, it's not. I will replace it with a different shadow, one that's a lot quicker to apply that I can wear in the next months.

BareMinerals BarePro Performance Wear Liquid Foundation

After depotting it, I used it quite a lot. The bottle was already empty, but the foundation actually went pretty fast when I was using it in combination with a BB-cream. Adding a more hydrating component to the mix helped me to get through it, and I loved the combo a lot. I'm proud to say this one is finished! I will switch to another base product I've been reaching for a lot lately that I'm quite desperate to use up.

Burberry Light Glow Natural Blush - No. 6 Tangerine Blush

This blush is so much softer than the FratBoy Blush and I think it will be a lot quicker to use this one up. However, I've used it for 2,5 months straight and it doesn't even show any signs of usage. The patterns even stays, even though product is definitely being used. I love this shade a lot, as it's completely matte, which makes me use my highlighter a lot more, too!

Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick - Honey

Not long after my previous update, this lipstick started to break up massively whenever I would use it. It's such a shame that the cream formulas from Smashbox do this, because they feel so wonderful on the lips and they look amazing, but they are just too soft so that you push the bullet to the side quite easily, without even putting too much pressure when you're applying it. It makes the lipstick look so dirty and gross and so this became the second of these lipsticks I had to depot. It's a shame because I'd much rather carry it with me in my bag, as it's such a neutral everyday shade. Now I can really only ever apply it at home, with a brush. I will continue using it, but I'd rather pick out a different lipstick for this project, as using up the pot while only using it once a day, would take me forever.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Face Sculpt & Highlight

I'm so chuffed with the fact I've used up the entire contour shade! After exactly one year of having this in the project, this product went from "barely used" to "almost completely empty". The highlighter is showing some good progress, although I will probably get rid of it before it's finished. The pan is growing every day, but on the sides it's still filled to the brim. It's still one of my favourite everyday highlighters and I enjoy the undertone of it a lot, but I feel like it's almost time to switch it up. I need a bit of variation in my makeup routine and it's starting to show that I'm getting tired of this highlighter. Maybe in the next update, in about two months, I will switch it. For now I'll just keep it around just a little longer.

Update: not a week after this post going live, I dropped the highlighter to the floor and it shattered... I will add a new highlighter to the project as well as it would be so silly to wait another two months with it!

Lancôme Monsieur Big waterproof mascara

It took me a bit of time to figure out how to use this mascara best, as it actually can get quite clumpy real fast. I usually use it in combination with other mascaras, first I'll put on a non-waterproof formula, which is a lot softer and usually a bit easier to work with, then I'll go over with this mascara. It works a lot better than when I use it on its own. It's far from being dried or used up, so I'll probably stick with this one for the forseeable future.

Too Faced Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer

Lastly we have this concealer that has been quite the pain to use up, but it's almost finished and consider it done for this project. I liked it for my spots but for some reason I have such dry under eyes lately, nothing works (not even eye creams) let alone a concealer. This used to work under my eyes before, but not so much anymore. I often mix it with a foundation or cc cream, as the shade was a bit too light and this will add some coverage to the bb cream as well. I did put a bit of this in my actual foundation bottle and it work alright. (I love making my own concoction of foundations, hehe). I'm glad it's almost finished and I can finally move onto other concealers that I still need to tackle.

Five out, six new products in:

Fenty Beauty Match Stix - Bamboo

I've been using this for the past few weeks as a foundation. The coverage is actually wonderful and the shade matches me so well, too. It is so quick to use in the morning. I don't really use it in my "contour" routine, when I do use the contour and blush stick from the set that this came in, but I would rather use it as concealer etc. Now that I've resorted to applying it on my entire face, I think I can get a lot of use out of it quickly so that it can make room in my storage. Otherwise I would never be able to finish this one up.

Burberry Light Glow Natural Blush - No. 7 Earthy Blush

Because I'm already using a blush from this collection in this project pan, I thought, why not switch to that other blush - that's actually an amazing contour shade - that I have laying around. I think I will get through this one even faster than the blush, as I use more product and a denser brush for contouring. I love the combo of the two blushes and I bet it will make me use them even more. I've been saving these up for way too long so it's finally time to use them more.

Urban Decay Vice lipstick - 1993 (comfort matte)

I was stupid enough to be fooled by sales and as I found these lipsticks at 30% off, my immediate thought was to pick up a new 1993 lipstick. Of course, I still had more in this bullet than I remembered, but it's a few years old now and I really want to make some use out of this before I move onto the new lipstick. I'll have you know this used to be one of my favourite shades when I first got it (thank you, Alice, I'm forever grateful for this gift) and just lately I've been ignoring it quite a lot. Dark lipsticks aren't the one I reach for these days, but this one is still light enough to be worn at the office. Might try to make this my signature look again, and maybe in combination with a lighter, more creamy lipstick it will make me reach for it more often as well.

Lush Emotional Brilliance Translucent Face Powder

I've been using this loose setting powder on and off for a bit, but I just really want to get through it now. Unfortunately I can't really see the progress on it, I reckon it's about halfway finished. It's such a good one, as it's mattifying but also brightens just a little bit, and it's very finely milled which makes it such a stunning product. I've got so many powders on backup and really want to start using those as well, which is why I really want to make sure to get through this one first.

H&M Infinite Impact Eye Colour - Ginger Snap

To switch out the Benefit cream shadow, I want to enter a H&M eyeshadow in the project. It's been a while since another H&M shadow has been here and I know I won't be able to use it up in any way, this one is even still quite new and I've barely touched it. I remember a few years ago, this was my absolute favourite eyeshadow in the world, and then with traveling it broke inside my bag, and I was unable to find this shade again for such a long time. Since then a lot of copper-toned eyeshadows and palettes have been in my life and this shadow is not as exciting as it used to be, but hey. I think it's a good one to reach for on a daily basis and I generally just want to get some more use out of this one.

Update:

YSL Stick Highlighter - 1 Light Gold

This is not in the picture, as it's an update after dropping my other highlighter one week into this update. I've barely used it at all so it's practically new. The shade is just a tiny bit too light for what I would normally use, but I want to make sure to use this one and maybe combine it with a powder highlighter to make it look, well, not so pale.My goal is to use this up completely before the year ends. Let's see if we can do that...

Lots of love,
