Beauty Haul

10:00

Hey everyone!

I haven't done a haul in a long while, mainly because I've been trying to control my makeup spending over the last months and I've only sporadically picked up one or two things (I did share it on instagram @charlinehasablog but I never did an entire blog post about them). In the last weeks though, with all the Christmas releases and Black Friday deals, it's gotten a little bit out of hand...

I thought I'd do a collective haul today to speak about the latest things I picked up and given a first try.

The first things I picked up were with a gift card I received after my collaboration with De Bijenkorf, so I technically didn't pay for these but I did a sort of sponsored post in order to receive them. A beautiful reward, I think! I finally ended up buying the Tom Ford Noir pour femme perfume, as I would never spend that money on it, but since it was a gift card, I thought: what the heck?! I love this scent so much for winter but I always thought €72 for 30ml was a little OTT. Now it's finally mine and I will use it sparingly, but enjoy it so much.

I also picked up a christmas set, the Nars Manic Velvet Matte Lip Pencil Set, which came with a super cute pouch as well! It contains a super cute mauve rosy shade, a nid tone browny nude, a deep burgundy and an even deeper purple. I'd never tried this formula until now and I must say, I can see why these were so popular a few years ago: they are super matte and they feel very light on the lips. I do think they can be a bit drying so if I top up throughout the day, they tend to dry out my lips. I try to moisturise well before applying, or combine them with a lipgloss. I really like the staying powder, though!

Another thing I decided to try out is the Nars Climax mascara. I haven't tried it yet as I'm trying to use up a few ones before doing so, but I'll definitely let you know my thoughts on it when I've used it for a bit. I've heard mixed reviews on it, so I can't wait to see how it works for me.

I left a bit of money on the Zoeva website as well, and first off I was interested in the Zoeva Premiere 111 Petit Face Finish brush from the Premiere collection. On the picture it didn't look as flat as it actually is so I was a bit disappointed when I saw it IRL, but I will try it out and see how it works best for me. It might actually end up working well as a contour brush... I just love the look of it and I loved the fact it came in a cute box, too!

Next I stocked up on another Zoeva 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek brush, which I already own and love but it's getting so old and even though it's still holding up well, you can tell that it has been used excessively and I really do want an extra one to change it up a bit. They have this one in different coloured handles as they released it in different collectinos, I chose one from the Rose Golden collection.

I've had my eye on the Zoeva Café eyeshadow palette for the longest time and I was so hesitant to pick it up, as I love a good green colour scheme but didn't know how well I would get on with the mauvey tones in the palette. I always thought this palette looked interesting, but I also think the mauve with the green is such an odd combination, especially when you name the palette "café" and there's really only ONE true brown in there... That being said, I've used it a couple of times now and I am so obsessed with the green shades! I find that I can make certain of the mauve and purple shades work along with the greens, but I tend to keep them more separate... The formula of the mattes is lovely, I find the greeny shimmers a bit stiffer than the shimmers in previous Zoeva palettes I've owned, but they are workable and I can live with it, just because mainly the green shades are so spot on.

I picked up a few other, more random high-end bits over the past few weeks.

Restocking on some skin care on Cult Beauty, I also ended up giving the Kevin Acoin The Contour Book: The Art Of Sculpting and Defining: Vol. III a go. I think I've seen the one from last year around but never saw anyone talking about it. This looked so interesting to me and I've always wanted to try out the sculpting powder, now I could try all three of them plus two highlighters and a blush/bronzer hybrid. I love all of the shades, especially the peachy highlight and the blush, and the light and medium schulpting powders. The undertone of them is so good and I'll definitely gt the use out of all of these so much.

I always have my eye on the Christmas holiday collection from Chanel and they tend to bring out a highlighter every holiday season, but I'm always too late to get my hands on it. I saw when the Le Lion De Chanel highlighter was released and I couldn't be happier to find out there were still a few left in stock, and although this is a pricey little number, I swatched it and I was sold. It is a gold that looks quite dark in the pan, but works very well on my skin tone. You can compare it with Laura Geller's Gilded Honey, if that works on you, this one will too. It has more of a peachy shift to it which is why this looks so special to me. Applied with a brush it looks very sheer and subtle, but that's not a bad thing at all. I love my highlighters a bit more subtle.

Then I went to the drugstore and found out the Revolution Conceal & Define concealers were available in store, it's the first time I've seen them in real life and they were even in stock in my shade! I am so curious about it, since I've heard rave reviews. I'll keep it closed for now, as I have a lot of concealers open at the moment and I really need to get through those first.

I also picked up one of the Revolution Flawless Foils in Rebound, as I've been wanting to try them for the longest time. It came with a liquid "primer", which I totally don't get the point of, and have no clue how it would work, so I threw that out immediately. But I did test out this creamy glittery formula with my finger and it gave a gorgeous top coat to my eye look. Excited to experiment with it a bit more and see what I can achieve with it. The swatch below doesn't do it justice but it looks stunning when you see it in the right lighting!

That was all from me today, I hope you enjoyed this haul after months of not doing them. I did a few hauls back in March, April and May if you want to go and check those out, you can click through the previous months in my side bar. Let me know if you have tried any of the products mentioned, and what you think of them!

Lots of love,
